Don’t miss the 7th Annual Regional Steak Cook-off, antique tractor & classic car show and parade, arts & crafts booths, ribeye steak dinner with Texas-style entertainment provided by Dennis Ivey’s Texas Opry. Houston County’s 175th birthday will be recognized throughout the day! Tickets now available for purchase at the chamber office for the Fiddlers’ Competition, and the ribeye steak dinner and Dennis Ivey’s Texas Opry. Also, arts & crafts vendor applications, and fiddler, antique tractor, classic car and steak cook-off entry forms are available at the chamber office. Call 936-544-2359 for information.

Traveling Vietnam Wall Scheduled for Crockett, TX
Houston County, the oldest county in Texas, is celebrating its 175th birthday. One of many events scheduled during the birthday celebration is the Cost of Freedom Tribute, including the traveling Vietnam Wall.

Crockett History
In 1690, the first effort of colonization of the area began in the establishment of the San Francisco de los Tejas Mission on the El Camino Real. The route was the freeway of the 18th century, providing movement of pioneers, soldiers, supplies, mail and the outpost of raw materials.
